Booklet Giveaway

Today I finished reading 200 Fabulous, Frugal uses for Baking Soda. My conclusion? Baking soda can be used to clean just about anything (within reason, of course)! While a few of the ideas in the book sound a little, well, crazy*, it's an interesting read. :) I'm particularly excited about the homemade scouring powder! :)

One suggestion I currently already employ at times, is sprinkling baking soda on soiled laundry to keep it smelling fresh until it's time to wash. Since baking soda is a detergent booster and can also work as a water softener, it's a handy laundry ingredient. :)

200 Fabulous, Frugal uses for Baking Soda is a 40-page booklet, and I'd like to send my copy to one of you! If you are a registered user, please leave a quick comment on this post and tomorrow we'll draw a name. I'll announce a winner sometime late tomorrow! I'll also include an extra little surprise in the packet with this book. :)

*For example, the suggestion of keeping refrigerator vegetable drawers smelling fresh by sprinkling baking soda in the bottoms and covering with a paper towel before putting your food in. I think I'll stick with periodically washing out the drawers and just plain keeping them clean! ;)

Sounds interesting

But I too will stick to just washing out my kitchen drawers when they're dirty. :)

Its nice to find recipes that offer alternative cleaning products. I'm glad you found such a reliable book.

Love the stuff

I use it for cleaning, washing diapers and so much more. I'm sure I could use 200 more uses, though.

I would love to see what else baking soda can be used for! I use it in my fridge and to clean sinks but that is about it. I better learn more about it!

Sounds great!

I love baking soda ;)

I use it in my homemade laundry soap and whenever we have a stubborn mess in a pan we add a little sprinkle of baking soda and it is so much easier to clean!

Oh!

I meant to add I love Vicki Lansky's book "Feed Me! I'm Yours". It gives recipes for things from homemade babyfood to other fun stuff like edible playdough and finger paints :).

I love baking soda too!! :) I even use it to wash my hair. LOL

Baking soda

Our family always has several boxes of baking soda around. We use it in our fridges to keep them smelling fresh, and other things (baking for one, of course :) ). That booklet sounds interesting. I know I can't think of 200 things to use it for.

I love baking powder, I keep a small contianer under my kitchen sink to spinkle on any stubborn baked on grease, with a little muscle and baking soda it comes right off.
I some times use it to soften the water in my bath.

What fun!

I was going to try your baking soda scrub next week! I am like you and enjoy less chemicals around the house. We use a lot of TKO. It goes a LONG way and as far as I can tell much better for everyone involved! Thanks for all the helpful tips!

I use baking soda a lot

I sprinkle it in my pans with some water and warm them on the stovetop if there's something stuck in them before washing. It helps clean them. Use it in the laundry etc
