Mrs. Mobunny (Michele) has a great post about Somthing Worse Than White Bread: The bread of idleness.
I know the ‘ease’ of saying yes to good stuff. It is ‘ease’ for the mother to say yes to daughters that want to do those ‘plugged in’ things. To say yes means a mom has 30 minutes, 90 minutes, or maybe even 2 whole hours to herself. To say yes means mom doesn’t have to look for something for the daughter/daughters to do. They have ‘something’ to do. Mom doesn’t have to look at spider books, bicycle tires or braids for a set amount of time. Now mom has some free time. Ah, now the daughters are occupied. Idle, but occupied...
...Don't leave your girls to themselves.........even though they are at home.
We like to see our daughters play with their dolls, make play muffins, read recipes, sew a quilt, ride their bike, make a bouquet, crochet a doily………but we as mothers tempt them to sit in front of a screen to be idle. Why do we do this? We bring the very thing into our homes that is our biggest enemy. I have yet to hear a husband say, now you be sure to have the TV on lots today while I’m at work... So, let us not blame our husbands for the time we waste all day long when they're not even home.
Pr 14:1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

Okay...now I am convicted :)
Thank you Tammy for the link to this article. I enjoyed it and of course got convicted..and I don't even have children yet! The TV isn't a problem for me but ever since we got Internet access, I find I spend alot of time online..more than I really should. My house doesn't really suffer, I make sure it's picked up before my DH gets home, but it could be better. I do know my walk with God (i.e. my Bible readings and prayer times) could be much more strengthened if I stay away from the computer for a few hours. Most of the stuff I look online is for how to be a better Titus 2 woman, or frugal ideas, or recipes, or I sell on EBAY to bring in a little extra money, so I am always on there. The Internet isn't all that bad as I am finally able to get more encouragement with all the wonderful websites out there...I just need to limit myself. :)
Thanks for the Reminder!
Just yesterday my daughter asked me how she will learn to be a homemaker - I told her stick to me like glue and you will learn. How easy it is to forget what we are doing - training the future generations. Thanks for the reminder!

Convicted too!
My response was the exact same as Anon's! Whoof, what a hit in the gut! Stuff to go pray about . . .
Great thoughts
Thanks so much for linking to this article. The TV is no problem in our home (it's really difficult to link up, and so it's rarely turned on), but I do have to watch my internet usage, especially during the day when my husband's not home (I also don't have any kids yet). I find a timer helps! Then I know it's time to get up and move on to the next thing on my list..
Unplugging
Thanks for sharing, Anon(s), Martie, and Emma. You are all quite welcome. Keeping priorities in check is a constant process! :)
