Kitchen Tip Tuesdays: Soaking large dishes

Here's a tip for soaking pans that don't quite fit all the way into the sink. (For me, that's anything 9x13 or longer!)

Rather than running a sink completely full of water (which sometimes would work), or setting a dangerously-full dish of water on the counter to soak, here's what I do!

First, I put the dish into the water, as best I can. Usually about half of the dish isn't underwater. The part of the dish that needs soaked but isn't underwater, I cover with a sopping-wet dish rag or two. This keeps the whole pan "soaking" and I don't have to later rotate the pan to soak the other half. :)

I hope this made sense... I kept planning to take a picture, but just haven't! :) Maybe tomorrow... my kitchen counter is FULL of dishes to be washed tomorrow! ;)

What a great tip Tammy!

Thanks.Never thought of that.

Soaking Pots

Yes, I have sometimes done that, too. Good tip! Thanks.

Another tip

If you have some grim stuck on the pan that you just can't scrub off.....Put hot water in the pan and then a used dryer sheet just floating in the water. Do this over night and you will be clean it perfectly in the morning.

I have done this a million times and it works great.

Me Too!

I do this too! I grew up with our living quarters attached to the family business - a rural hotel - and we shared a kitchen, so I was used to lots of room to work, professional grade stuff, and a larger than average sink, but not huge.

So imagine my surprise when I had a "real" apartment kitchen!

So I developed little tricks to help me, and this is one of them - it is the only way I could get my old cookie sheets clean!

(I am doing a series about my other secret, and will once again be linking to it as my Kitchen Tip as soon as I type it up.)
