Yehoshua and Eliyahu helped me mix up some homemade macaroni and cheese last week. We baked a 9 x 13 dish of it and used it for one dinner meal (served with cooked veggies and homemade bread) and several lunches/snacks. Macaroni and cheese is very simple to make, but since it's not one of our favorites, and not a very healthy meal, I only make it a few times a year. :)

We also made two more loaves of homemade wheat bread. I love homemade bread. Eliyahu stirred some of the wet ingredients (honey, warm water, etc.) in the bread machine pan before I added everything else. I told the boys which buttons to press, and they started the bread machine on the dough cycle for me. Then they spent 10-15 minutes hovering over the machine, watching the dough form! Ruth slept in her car seat while we worked.
I think Ruth's car seat has found a permanent location... on our kitchen table! Even when she's "just sleeping", I love having her close by us while we're making a meal or cleaning up. :)
Eliyahu loves to help stir things when I cook. Yehoshua isn't too thrilled about having "lost" yet another job to Eliyahu, since Eliyahu "stole" his dishes and laundry duties. But, I've been having Yehoshua help measure ingredients for me instead of stirring.
And yes... Eliyahu is wearing his pajamas in these pictures. Some days it's just more fun to wear pajamas all day, right? ;)

They're so cute!
Add Ruth looks so little in her seat!
Pajama's
I agree with the pajama's statement! I would love to stay in mine all day long (and sometimes do!!!) Thanks for all the wonderful posts, i am trying (still) to adjust life to our first child (8 month old Abigail) and though i love her this small, i cant wait until she can be a help. Watching your sons help gives me hope that day isn't as far off as it seems!!
God Bless,

We do that too. I love to
We do that too. I love to keep the baby with us, and the car seat works the best. Our babies love to sleep in their car seats -- especially the newborns. I think it's the way it keeps them curled up? :)
cute
Your little family is so sweet Tammy. I wish I could come visit you with my three- all girls and slightly older than yours. (5,4,almost 2)
Are your boys very, umm, 'boyish'? Do they get loud and wrestle and fight?? Just curious, my girls act like boys a lot- they fight physically at times, enjoy destruction and seem to be making all kinds of noises for fun, LOL. Did I mention they love playing with boys?
Losing Jobs
My 6 year old is losing jobs to the 4 year old and the 4 year old to the 2 year old. Once they pass on a good glot of jobs and inherit new ones, I try to give them one more privilege to go with it.
PJs
My 3yo just likes to rip off his PJs in the morning and run around naked as long as I'll let him. He hates wearing clothes. Aren't they funny like that? Though I could wear my PJs all day if it were socially acceptable! Think about how much less laundry that would be?
Sweet pictures...
and cute helpers! :) I like having our baby near us too. :) I was able to have our carriage in the house and she did all her napping there. I love having them close so that I can peek on them often. :) ~Tanya
The other day I didn't dress
The other day I didn't dress the kiddos until past noon because they were playing so very nicely and i didn't want to interrupt them....glad all is well at your house!
A fun glimpse....
into your day! :) It's nice that Ruth is there, too, so the boys get used to her being around and the reality of her helping just as they do! :)
How is your extensive meal planning guide going? Has it helped you quite a bit to have things ready and mapped out, so it's less stressful for you? :)
table
hi Tammy,
Just a note to say about the danger of leaving the car seat on the table... do you plan on keeping it on the floor when when she's more active? A friend of mine was six weeks old and in a bouncinette on the counter while her mother was preparing food. The bouncinette fell off the bench and she ended up with brain damage. She's 29 now and still has some impact from that (mostly in the area of spatial skills) but a doctor, looking at her records, told it's a miracle she isn't severely retarded or a vegetable. This has made me very aware of babies and height.
Hope I didn't offend.
Re: table
No offense taken... I wondered if anyone would comment about being careful with the car seat on the table. :) I probably won't have Ruth in the car seat much at all when she's more active, but yes -- I do set it on the floor. :)
