Catching up

I guess I'll be doing some dishes tonight.

And folding laundry.

Anyone want to keep me company on the phone tonight (~9-11pm EST) while I work? Email me with your number. :)

Edited to add:

Clean kitchen!!!!!!

This morning -- the sunlight shining in on my clean kitchen as cream of wheat cooks on the stovetop. :) Even better? I hardly remember the stacks of dirty dishes because I was having a lovely conversation with a long-time blog reader Lyn. Thanks, Lyn! :)

Thank you for keeping things real. We all have dishes that pile up and laundry that needs taken care of.

Thanks for posting your pictures - my kitchen looks like that. . .and instead of our crib being full of laundry to fold, it's full of cloth diapers and clothes the next size up for my little one. And the clothes that still need to be folded. . .are on the couch. Thanks for the reminder!

It rained today so no clothes to fold.

But the dishes are piled high!

I'll be thinking about you all while I clean also!

Laundry!! Does it ever end?? not really. For me, I knew I would get the laundry folded at least before I went to bed if I piled it on my bed. That worked for me.

Wow, that looks like my kitchen. However, I have been doing better due to the examples set by frugal moms like yourself.

Hey you are human too. My kitchen looks like that too. I have a small kitchen with little counter space, but love to cook and bottle foods so needless to say it often times looks just like that. I had to laugh to see your crib full. When my boy was small I would also fill the crib with laundry that needed to be folded.

I am so relieved to not be the only one with dishes and laundry... Lately I feel like I am juggling too many things... and when I read blogs that have perfect pictures... I feel like I am way off the mark... It is nice to know that I am not alone... Thank you...

Yeah, so much for "Sabbath Preperation" this week. I think our idea of processing 8 quarts of snap peas, 6 quarts cherries, about the same amount of mulberries (transformed into 3 pies), 8 quarts of strawberries, 6 pie crusts, and grilling lunch was a little much before Sabbath. Especially after all of our picking and processing (and Tammy's yummy shortcake and homemade bread) the day before. The end result was all the dishes left over from our projects were, uhhh, well, left over. I think we are going to pace ourselves a little better before Sabbath next time :( I am surprised tammy took a picture of "that" as that is the first time it has sat like that for a day. Oh well, we survived and it is all clean now... and we have a lot of yummy garden fresh food in the freezer and fridge.

It's so nice that other people's houses get messy too! It makes me feel less guilty about mine!

I think keeping it real is great!! :0) It is nothing to be ashamed of, it lets us moms know that we are all in the same boat. ;0) I know there are times dishes pile up here and there are times when things are all neat and tidy. I'm sure it's like that all over the world. ;0)

BTW--last week we picked over 50 pounds of strawberries, so I can totally relate!! :0)

You are brave! Kitchen work and laundry are never ending aren't they?!? Thank you for posting the pics. I wouldn't ever be able to post pics of mine. My mother-in-law says that when her boys were small she thought when Jesus returned he would find her in the basement doing laundry!

Thanks for sharing your reality with us! My apartment looks like your kitchen, but pretty much everywhere. Lol. It is comforting to me to know I'm not the only one. I used to struggle with feeling like such a failure, thinking I was the only one who had a hard time keeping up.

Hi Tammy,
You did a fabulous job, wow! I hope the time did go by fast for you. You were way more productive than me.

Thank you for the call, it was a lot of fun. :)

Take care, Lyn

Hi Joshua and Tammy,
Just to add I would love to know sometime how you put up all your garden bounty. I have canned but am a bit of a novice at it.

With higher prices these days I think it's so important to make the best use of everything we have. I would love to learn more.

Take care, Lyn

Dear Tammy,

How many times have I put on a front like I have the perfect, neat home all the time! Being so worried about what people will think because of my cluttered home. Hey, it is hard to keep up when you put the needs of your children first. Thanks for being honest and showing the world what all of our homes look like from time to time! You sure did work hard, girl!

Dear Tammy,
I am a stranger to you, just happen to stumble across this particular post of yours.
The picture that really struck me was the one where the crib is full of laundry that needs to be folded!
For me, that picture brings back a particular memory.
Firt off, your crib style is exactly the crib my babies had. My mind brings up a snapshot from the past quite similar. My husband was in the ministry, I was a busy wife with a two year old and a newborn. A newborn that hardly slept, and a two year old that woke up quite early in the morning!
I had days where keeping up with the household chores could be quite a challenge. I remember having a crib full of laundry to be folded. (my newborn wasn't using it just yet, so, the laundry stayed in there longer than I really wanted it to.) My home would have surprise visitors from time to time. We had some while my crib was full! I felt kind of bad about visitors seeing the crib full of laundry...at the time. Now, I look back with warm memories. Your picture gave me a wonderful feeling. I think I thought I had been the only woman that had ever done such a thing! My babies of that day are now 21 and 19 years of age. I would do it all again! Only this time, I would NOT feel badly about guests seeing my unfolded laundry.
Thanks for sharing. I still do have a kitchen counter that gets quite full during the day. That has not changed for me...even with the help of two daughters ages 17 and 11.
Sorry, if this post was a bit long. It was just fun to share with you.
God bless you with your hard work and diligence in doing your very best in your home for your family.
Thanks for sharing.
Sincerely, Denise
