I seem to have dozens of things I would like to do each day, but limited time to devote to personal endeavors. Thanks for your understanding and patience! My inbox is overflowing, I have about a gig of photos that have been taken for various recipes and blog posts, and my dishes need done. :)
One of the things that I've been "behind" in is posting new recipes here! Sure, we still make our old standbys like pizza... but we've tried new things and I have some great recipes just waiting to be typed up. :)
My parents' mulberry trees are loaded with huge, juicy mulberries this year. The berries are the size of blackberries! Joshua and I have been over there a few times and picked several gallons of berries! My mom has been making pies, too.
My mom gave me the recipe she follows for mulberry pie, and my sister took a picture of it for us. As you can see, we do eat the stems of our mulberries! :)
This mulberry pie recipe uses lemon to balance the sweetness of the berries. Each pie has only 1/3 cup sugar, since we use the really ripe black mulberries. :)
Besides pies, what are your favorite uses for mulberries? :)

Yum
That is a pretty pie!
Mulberries
Jam! :-D
mulberry pie
I have made mulberry pie a few times, and although most locals around here don't make anything out of mulberries, we love it! My husband says its one the best pies out there.
Mulberry Pie
I don't think I have ever had a mulberry. Pie was the dessert of choice in our house growing up and I have eaten all kinds of pies, but never mulberry. I don't think I've ever seen them for sale anywhere either - not at the Farmer's Market or the grocery store.
Are they a regional thing?
Mulberry cobbler! Wow, I
Mulberry cobbler! Wow, I wish I had saved some of the mulberries we picked this year for a pie like that one. That looks yummy, Tammy@
Never
Never had a mulberry anything. Actually I never heard of them until your site.
Mulberries?
Mulberries don't grow where we live. Neither have I ever seen them sold here. So, with the exception of Dr Seuss our life is devoid of Mulberries!
Hmmm...
Hmm, I have a mulberry tree out behind my house but I usually don't do much with it. I've always thought mulberries didn't taste very good (too bland, and not very sweet), and I'm surprised to hear of the sweetness of the berries here. Perhaps it is just my tree. I might have to go out there and see if there are enough berries to make part of a pie. I have some frozen fruit in the freezer... I think I have a bag each of strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. I don't know if any of those would even be any good in a mulberry pie, but I would prefer to put something in there for flavor. I'll post back if I do get time to go out there and pick some mulberries.
I heard of mulberry wine,
I heard of mulberry wine, once :)
How about syrup for pancakes?
THANK YOU!!
I just wanted to share about a little project I worked on today (which I have to warn you has NOTHING to do with your post! LOL!). I am slowly decluttering and deep cleaning my house, and my room for today was the laundry room. I keep all my cookbooks in there, so today I cleared out and purged old ones, etc. I also organized all my printed-out recipes (the ones I use and LOVE) into one binder and YOURS were the vast majority. THANK YOU!! I love your site and it's such a blessing to me and my family. I just wanted to let you know how much you help everyone who reads your blog! [And I can't wait for more fresh whole wheat recipes! I got my grain mill about a week before you and I am counting on you to help me through the learning curve of wheat! LOL!!] Thanks again - you rock!!

Recipes and grain mills :)
Wow, thanks for the compliments! :) We are having fun with our grain mill, but I am keeping pretty busy just making regular bread for us to eat (and give away... we've given away quite a few loaves... they're just so yummy!). ;)
I think the kind of wheat you use makes a difference, too... we've been using Prairie Gold hard white wheat for bread and pies and we love it! I do use red wheat for pancakes though. :)
What grains have you tried grinding so far? :)
What in the world are you
What in the world are you apologizing for? With young children, you're apologizing? You have nothing to be sorry for!! I enjoy your postings as much as the rest of them, but there is only one you, your kids are only kids for a short time... so enjoy every minute of it. Your family should always come first, and if I know you, it does. We will all 'survive' if you don't post every day like you think you need to.
BTW... I have had mulberry pie. I remember when I was a kid, my sister and I would ride our bikes to the near the school yard where we would pick bucket after bucket of mulberries (although we would eat as many as went in the bucket). My mom, who was the pie queen, who made the yummiest pies, would make pies and then we would have fresh mulberry shortcake. Yumm-O!!

I didn't think I was apologizing, but... :)
