Pizza Tips Baking Thicker Crusts

Can't wait to try this recipe! I have dough recipe that is similar, but is a bit more work.

One tip that I got from my favorite pizza recipe is to add the cheese later on in the cooking process, so it has time to just melt and brown. The cheese has a high moisture content, and seals this in as it melts, which can cause the center of your pizza to be doughy (especially if you like a thicker crust.)

I also like to mix some spices into the dough, and brush the shaped crust with (fresh) garlic olive oil before topping it. YUM!

Another thing that I do, is to preheat the oven to 450 with a baking stone in place. You have to slide the prepared pizza onto the super hot stone, and it takes a little finesse and defintely the corn meal. :) But it makes a super crisp, brick oven style crust. I have a pizza peale that I recieved as a gift, and that's what we use to make our pizza's on, and then slide them onto the stone.

Pizza is one of our favorite meals to make together as a family. We're trying to learn how to toss the dough :) which always makes for some laughs, and a few holes in the crust ;)
