Actual conversation this evening...
Tammy: Hey Honey, which cupcake filling recipe was our favorite? My mom's, or this other one?
Joshua: You'll just have to make them both again.
Tammy: I don't have time for that. I need a kitchen tip for tonight, so I'm gonna tell everyone, "Hey! You can make your own cupcake filling."
Joshua: Hahahahahaha
Tammy: (laughing) Okay, I know. That's a dumb tip. Do you have a better one?
Joshua: How about... go to the local GoodWill store and buy cook books for cheap. Then you can gift them to other people when you're done with them.
Tammy: Hahahahahaha Hey, you know, maybe I should just "recycle" one of my better tips that's a couple years old.
Joshua: Yeah.

Thought I Might Help With A Kitchen Tip That Helps Me
Hi Tammy, Don't we all have days like the one you just described..... I really feel for you. I cannot even imagine what it must be like for you to run such a wonderful blog (that I just love reading, by the way). It only seems fitting that you would draw a blank sometime. Well just thought I would include a kitchen tip that sure helps me, so here goes and hopefully it will bless someone else, too.
I keep several spray bottles under my kitchen sink to help with all sorts of situations.... such as...
1. Peroxide - to disinfect any cutting boards, to quickly wash veggies and fruits, for any mishaps with a knife (not that I would ever have a mishap with knife - um what bandaid?) and also to quickly disinfect any sponges or dishrags quickly.
2. Vinegar (Love lavender steeped vinegar by the way) - Also as a fruit and veggie spray, disinfectant, good multi purpose cleaner (to clean as I go - Boy that's a tip within itself right there), and a great odor eater when something on the stove might burn (not that we would ever burn anything - do I smell something?)
3. Club Soda - My miracle - I like to add tea tree oil or lavender (essential oil) - this makes all chrome shine like new, my black appliances never looked better, windows are just amazing (patio doors never looked so clean with so much ease), excellent for mirrors, and of course if a little messy gets on clothing just spritz it out (I am certain I wouldn't know about that - no you cannot see a picture of me right now)
4. Boil water and add 1/2 Cup baking soda; stir until dissolved, add lavender essential oil and pure vanilla for the best quick air freshener ever. This is one cheap, yet chem free recipe that will seem to find it's way in every room in the house (Now who took my air freshener this time?)
And a shaker container of baking soda with a few microfiber cloths and my kitchen is ready for anything, well almost.
I also keep the same ingredients in bath area and laundry room, the spray bottles are cheap and do not have to be large and the convenience of having them in each area has made my life alot easier and cleaner. I also keep a spray bottle of club soda in our vehicle for the windows so we'll always be prepared.
Another neat trick we do (not a kitchen tip, but it still is a goody), I make our own laundry soap using Zote laundry bars. I let this air dry to ease the use of making my powdered laundry soap, so while drying out the bars (or shavings of the bars) I put them in our linen closet and all our towels, sheets etc. smell extra fresh all the time. It just goes to show you, just think outside the box and no telling what your kitchen (or linen closet) can be!
Well happy tipping everyone and Tammy I look forward to your next post. I JUST LOVE THIS SITE!
Blessings, Deena
