Love grilled cheese? Love Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches? Joshua combined the two flavors and served me these killer Grilled Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches one afternoon last summer. We've been making them ever since!
These grilled Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches are simple to put together, but taste like a gourmet sandwich from a restaurant like... well, actually, I don't know since we hardly ever go out to eat! But it looks like something I've seen on a cafe menu. Joshua says it's like diner food to him -- kinda buttery and just plain GOOD! :)
You can see how long I've had these photos -- that's asparagus from my Grandma's garden last Spring! It's shown sauteed with onions -- Asparagus and Onions is one of our favorite ways to eat asparagus! :)
You can see more Grilled Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches over at the recipe! :)
Do you ever make grilled cheese sandwiches with "extras"? What are your favorite add-ins??

Oh my goodness those look SO delicious!!! I so badly want to get some roast beef now. :)
Ah, grilled cheese...
All I can say is...Tuna Melt! Yes, my favorite add in is tuna, and don't forget that onion.
Yours looks so yummy.
Love your recipes!
We make them with just
We make them with just cheeses (vary the cheeses based on what we have on hand) or add ham or turkey or roast beef or bacon (again depending on what is on hand) or even just fresh out of the garden tomatoes! Yummy!
I have made these before
I have made these before and I would dip them in AuJuice. My Dh(Rick)Created them at our house like Joshua did for your family.SO good.
Extras
We do enjoy a grilled cheese sandwich for either lunch or for dinner with a side of soup or salad. There are times when we tire of the plain old grilled cheese, so I will add sliced ham or turkey to it, or change from my normal whole wheat bread to sourdough. It helps to change things up a bit, and my family enjoys it! Your grilled philly cheese steak looks yummy! I am looking forward to trying it. Thank you for sharing!
WOW
Oh my. Tammy these sandwiches look so yummy. And it just so happens that I have a seitan roast (beef flavor) cooking right now in the crockpot. Maybe I'll be changing our lunch plans tomorrow!
We like faux ham, apple slices and swiss grilled for lunch, and we like tomato, faux bacon and swiss grilled for breakfast. Those are my two staples, but my husband and I will often add sliced avocado to a grilled cheese and tomato. yum.
Grilled Cheese is so adaptable
My favorite addition is sliced fresh tomato with salt and pepper, and sliced avocado. Delicious! I also enjoy some thinly sliced cracked black pepper turkey. You should try muenster cheese... it's great on grilled cheese.
Hummus
We love hummus on our grilled cheese. We usually buy it from Costco and it's delicious.
You have not had anything
You have not had anything until you have had an actual Philly cheesesteak! LOL! I live 20 minutes from Philly and have them often! Yummy!
Looks good!
My favorite addition to grilled cheese is a thick slice of fresh tomato. Nothing says "summer" like a round tomato still warm from the garden!
Pregnancy Grilled Cheese
This is a weird pregnancy craving, but I've been making them for myself with cheese, pickles, and spicy brown mustard! I'm the only one who will eat them that way, so I make them with just cheese for the rest!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for this awesome idea. I prepare meals for my elderly parents and this was a nice change for my Dad for dinner last night. He loved it and asked that I make it again sometime soon.
great idea
what a great idea we love to try different grilled cheese recipes but we had never tried this one
Grilled cheese
I love grilled cheese with motzerella and sliced tomato and basil and a dash of garlic salt. Oh, so tasty and gooey!
