Last week we were blessed with a big bucket of fresh cow's milk from some friends! Oh, the excitement of drinking fresh milk with cream floating on top!! And of course it tasted fabulous.
One of the things I made with some of the milk was this delicious creamy vanilla pudding. Oh, my!
I don't usually describe foods as "heavenly" but that was the word popping into my mind as we savored the smooth, fragrant, warm vanilla pudding.
I wrote this recipe myself, but really -- how hard can a pudding be, anyway? :) This one's only got seven ingredients, and pretty much guaranteed to be stuff that's already in your pantry.
And the flavor... after having homemade vanilla pudding it would truly be tortuous to have to eat pudding made from a typical boxed mix!
This homemade creamy vanilla pudding is the ultimate in comfort foods, especially when served warm. Mmmmmm.... :)
I also made a killer dark chocolate pudding with some of the milk -- but you'll have to wait until I get that one typed up. :)

This sounds so good, I will really have to try it. I was looking for an alternative to the mix for a while. I can't wait to see the chocolate one! :)

Question
Do you have to use whole milk?
Milk for pudding
You can use whatever milk you prefer to eat... I specified whole milk in the ingredient list since that will make the creamiest and best (in my opinion!) pudding. :) But for health reasons it is certainly possible to make the pudding and cut down on the sugar, butter, etc... it will be healthier but it will not be quite as delicious! ;) So it really just depends on what you're aiming for -- a healthier "snack" or a special treat to serve to guests -- that sort of thing! :)
I've never thought about
I've never thought about making homemade vanilla pudding. I'm going to have to give that a try.. it sounds delicious!
Yummy!
We used to make this all the time when we had a cow and eat it with peanut butter crumbs on top...yum! It almost always gives me a stomach ache, but it is usually worth it!
Yum!
Oh that looks so yummy! I will have to give that a try really soon!
Oh that looks unbelievable!!
Oh that looks unbelievable!! Fresh cows milk is the best too... that just looks so creamy!
Yay for fresh milk! My
Yay for fresh milk! My brother works in a dairy in my hometown--they keep the cows, milk them, and process the milk right away. It's pasteurized but not homogenized, and very very fresh. I wish we lived there!
Very delicious.
This was fantastic--my husband and I are absolutely dying for the chocolate recipe!
Thank you so much.
