California Pizza Kitchen's BBQ Chicken Pizza... with red onions, fresh cilantro, and bbq chicken on top. YUM! I wanted to recreate this pizza, but then saw that The Pioneer Woman already had. So, I didn't really start "from scratch" on this recipe after all.
I did create the crust for this (well, if you can call water, salt, oil, flour, and yeast "creating"!) and was very pleased with the thin, crispy result. I do like pizza crust, but find myself gravitating towards thinner crusts with more interesting toppings than just red sauce and cheese. My family will eat any kind of pizza I make (well, almost! I have had a few disasters!), so I play around a lot. :)
We like Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce, but you can use whatever is your favorite! The chicken breast, sauce, red onions, and cilantro make this pizza a delicious success! (I'm always up for another excuse to eat fresh cilantro!) I couldn't get enough of it, and the rest of the family liked it too.
Have you created a good pizza lately? I'd love to hear about it! I need another good restaurant pizza to recreate at home... :)

yum
We love Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ for BBQ Chicken Pizza. I've used other sauces but Ray's is the best for pizza. Next time, add a sprinkle of feta or crumbled bacon. Bliss.
Homemade Pizza
I love playing around with pizza, too! I don't really do "recipes," just use whatever I have on hand. My favorite is probably chicken, spinach, red sauce, and white sauce. Hubby likes either creamy pesto with chicken and tomatoes, or cheesesteak pizza.

Pizza recipes
I work at a pizza place, our spin on the BBQ chicken is ranch mixed with chipotle tabasco. Add cheese, chicken, red onion, bacon. Topped with sweet baby rays
We also make a Chicken club. No base, though if you want you can put ranch down Cheese, chicken, bacon. Cook. When it comes out top with tomatoes and lettuce and if you did not put down a ranch base drizzle with ranch on top or mayo, though I prefer ranch.
Ranch mixed with chipotle tabasco sauce
Oh wow, that sounds amazing! Joshua has been really into chipotle hot sauces -- both Cholula and Tabasco -- recently. I'll have to try your suggestion some time!! :)
Zojirushi bread maker & pizza crust
Do you ever make pizza crust in your Zo? I haven't tried it yet in mine, but see the recipe in the book. Also do you ever make whole wheat crust?
Pizza dough in bread machine
Yes! I mix nearly all of my yeast bread dough in my bread machine. In my more recent recipes, I have tried to include both bread machine and hand-kneaded instructions in the recipes. :)
We occasionally make whole wheat pizza crust, but it isn't our favorite. :) Challah and pizza crust are two things that I really prefer white flour in! :)
Puccini's
There is a restaurant in Indiana called Puccini's that has one of the best pizzas I've ever tasted. We have it every time we travel in or through the state. It's called King of Hearts pizza and has the following: traditional thin crust, traditional sauce, mozzarella, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, capers, crispy bacon, black olives, and sprinkled herbs. It is fabulous!!! I never thought I'd like bacon on pizza, but this is nice and toasty bacon and not at all greasy or oily.
The thing I'd love to copycat is their in-house made ranch dressing. TAMMY... this is the best dressing!! You see people coming in to order just a container of it to take home. It's a peppery, herby, a bit spicy, creamy goodness. I could lick the plate if everyone would turn away. I'm tempted to order it alone as a side dish like soup. LOL! I tried to make it at home but failed miserably. I'm convinced you could do it, though. You're a genius when it comes to breaking down recipes.
Thanks!

BBQ sauce
How is it with BBQ sauce instead of sauce?
Hi Tammy This is my family's
Hi Tammy
This is my family's favorite pizza at the moment.
The sauce for the base is half tomato paste and half sweet chilli sauce (eg. 2 TBS paste to 2TBS sauce). Mix together and spread over pizza. The combination sounds strange but the taste is amazing !!!
Then I cut up a previously roasted tandoori chicken or chicken that has been roasted in tandoori paste. I add it to the pizza with just cheese and a bit of red onion. Then bake.
When it comes out of the oven, you top it with fresh rocket...... You can also eat it with yogurt or any accompaniments you would with an Indian meal......
Delicious pizza..........recipe from Australia....

Sweet Baby Ray's is so good!
Sweet Baby Ray's is so good! My husband brought home a store brand bbq sauce a few weeks ago and I refuse to use it.
Whole Wheat thin crust?
Tammy- this is on our menu very soon. Yum. We loved the garlic- chicken pizza. However, I'd like to try a whole wheat thin crust but haven't been extremely satisfied yet. Could I sub white whole wheat for your recipe or would it need further modifications? Thanks
Whole wheat thin crust pizza
Yes -- you can use white whole wheat flour (or half whole wheat flour, half all-purpose or whatever you prefer!) and it should turn out okay/good! :) You may need slightly more liquid (water), or else use slightly less flour than the recipe calls for (since whole grain flours seem to soak up more moisture in recipes than refined flour does). :)
We, unfortunately, vastly prefer the flavor of white flour (bleached or unbleached all-purpose or bread flour) for our pizza crusts, so when we have pizza, I usually use bread flour from Costco. Pizza crust and challah are two of the few things that I nearly always make with refined white flour instead of whole grain flour(s)! But it is because of the flavor, not the texture... :)
Can you freeze this for
Can you freeze this for baking at another time??
